What is DFARS compliance?

“DFARS” stands for Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement. In the previous blog post, Part 1: ITAR, we talked about items described in Munitions List. On the other hand, DFARS discusses non-classified, non-ITAR/EAR requirements, including securing highly sensitive data.

Who is covered under DFARS?

It covers each organization that is:

• A direct or an indirect DoD (Department of Defense) contractor
• Works with Covered Defense Information (CDI), or
• Has a contract that references DFARS clause 252.204.7008

What is Covered?

• Controlled technical information
• Critical information (operations security),
• Export control information, or
• Any other information, marked or otherwise identified in the contract, that requires safeguarding or dissemination controls under and consistent with law, regulations, and government-wide policies (e.g., privacy, proprietary business information)

How to be DFARS compliant, and how RegDOX can help you?
